Perth Thunder has signed SPHL goaltender, Dan Clarke for the remainder of the 2013 AIHL Season.
The 25-year-old netminder joins Thunder from the SPHL where he played with 2012 Perth Thunder goaltender, Kiefer Smiley, for the Mississippi Surge. Dan is a veteran of the NCAA, spending four years playing for the Quinnipiac University Bobcats, who recently finished second in the 2013 NCAA Division Ice Hockey Tournament, falling to eventual winners, Yale in the final of the Frozen Four competition in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dan first heard about Perth Thunder through Smiley and after some quick work by Coach Stan Scott, arrived in Perth on Friday afternoon. This is Dan’s first time in Australia and he’s excited to jump straight into the games against the Melbourne Mustangs this weekend.
Dan was down at Perth Ice Arena bright and early this morning to get a feel for the ice, and teammates Michael Forney and Andrew Cox were on hand to make sure he had plenty of pucks to stop during the hour long practice. You can view a few of Dan’s moves in the video below.
Lets give Dan a great Perth Thunder welcome this weekend! We know our fans in the stands and in the Cross-Bar will be as loud as ever!
