After a tough battle on Saturday night against the Bears, I think we struggled to get out of the blocks on Sunday, whereas the Ice Dogs got the jump on us very quickly and before we woke up we were three goals down.
You can look for a thousand reasons why you lose sometimes, and you can always find excuses or people to blame. I think traveling all the way to Sydney and playing Saturday night and then playing again Sunday night against a fresh team who had Saturday off, does put you at a disadvantage, it has to.
Though that isn’t the reason we lost on Sunday, the Ice Dogs worked harder, it’s that simple.
In the second period we fought hard and got back from 3-0 to make it 3-2 but on the game as a whole, the Ice Dogs are a very solid team and they earned their win, but I was proud of how we dug in deep at 3 goals down and gave them a battle until the end.
On a positive, we got a split on a very hard road trip and we are back in Perth now for a few games, starting against the Canberra Brave this Saturday.
We expect two very hard games again but if we want to play finals, dominating our own rink would be a good start to achieving that goal.
