Michael Forney is here, and he means business!
Perth, WA – After a crazy few days for the star import player, Michael Forney is finally settled in Perth and has had a chance to recharge his batteries. Within 48 hours of landing in Sydney two weeks ago, Forney had already had his first taste of AIHL action, playing away games with the Perth Thunder and coming away with a win and a loss. Not bad for a guy that just days earlier had finished up his ECHL season and also signed a contract with Villavich SV, of the Erste Bank Hockey League in Austria.
Michael touched down in Perth for the first time last Sunday night, following the teams first-of-the-season win over the Sydney Bears. Over the last week, Michael has had time to get comfortable with his new housemates, Kenny Rolph and Matt Strueby and finally get in some practice with the team at Perth Ice Arena, the home of Thunder Hockey (images below). It will be another two weeks until Forney finally gets to play in front of the home crowds, as another trip to Sydney is on the cards this weekend to take on the Ice Dogs and try and repeat against the Bears.
Perth Thunder will have a feature article all about Michael in the next official Perth Thunder Game Programme, which fans can purchase at next home games.
If you’re keen to see Michael, as well as Thunder’s newest imports, Matt Strueby and Joe Tolles, be sure to buy your tickets for the next home games on the 25th and 26th of May against the Ice Dogs.
