MAJOR SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT – PERTH, 19 June 2014.
WA’s international watch brand Haigh & Hastings has become a major sponsor of Australian Ice Hockey League side Perth Thunder.
“It’s great to get on board with the Thunder and ice hockey in Australia,” said Haigh & Hastings CEO Simon Haigh. “Ice hockey is a thrilling, rugged sport which requires nerves of steel and precise timing. Our line of tough, stylish and reliable watches are the perfect fit for the world’s fastest sport, and one with a great future in this country.”
Perth Thunder CEO Stan Scott said: “We are very pleased to have such a high quality watchmaker and credible company like Haigh & Hastings as corporate partners. Ice hockey is an extreme sport and they make extreme timepieces that match us perfectly – plus it is fantastic having a Western Australian-headquartered business to support us.”
Perth Thunder, based at the Perth Ice Arena in Malaga, is one of eight teams competing in the elite Australian Ice Hockey League, fast becoming one of the most popular sports in Australia.
Under the deal, Haigh & Hastings’ logo will feature on the Thunder’s home and away jerseys, plus Thunder members will have access to exclusive merchandise.
Haigh & Hastings, whose slogan is “Timepieces for Dangerous Men”, launched its M2 timepiece earlier this year, becoming the first Perth-based global watch brand.
The 44mm M2 features a high quality Japanese quartz movement housed in a super-tough 316L stainless steel case (with engraved case back) and is water resistant to 300m. The watch comes with a range of striking, natural rubber coloured straps, perfect for immersion in water. The non-allergenic straps are saltwater, UV and odour-resistant.
Haigh & Hastings plans to expand its range of watches soon.
Since launching in late 2013, Haigh & Hastings has made an immediate impact on the Australian and international watch scene and is already eyeing further expansion.
Former Fossil UK Watches CEO Giles Bushy has joined the company as a shareholder and director. The company is also a proud partner of Super XV rugby side the Western Force,
